Co-operative Pharmacy profits soar 26%

The Co-operative Pharmacy reported operating profits of £18 million for the first half of 2010 – a rise of 26 per cent. The rise was attributed to improving efficiencies and controlling distribution costs through the Co-operative Pharmacy’s National Distribution Centre.

The Co-operative Pharmacy also opened a flagship branch in St Helens in March, which builds on links with local GPs and surgeries to deliver a wide range of services. Once the MHRA grants approval, the Co-operative Pharmacy is planning to step up its generic manufacturing, with a plant opening in China.
